Director of Instruction
Joe’s mission is to provide exceptional golf instruction from kids through adults of all ages and abilities, empowering them to achieve their performance goals while fostering a consistently positive and enjoyable learning experience. Through his experience as a NCAA Golf Coach and an award-winning golf instructor, his innovative teaching methods and supportive environment inspires a lifelong love for golf and help players develop the skills, confidence, and character necessary for success on and off the course. His accomplishments include:
• Neary 20 years of experience teaching thousands of golfers of all ages.
• Currently Head Coach for Academy of Art University Division II men’s golf team and previously Assistant Coach at Santa Clara University’s Division I men’s golf team.
• PGA Class A Professional
• US Kids Certified Instructor
• Competed as a professional golfer on tour
• NCAA Division 2 All American
• Certified by USGA in Rules of Golf and Rules of Handicapping
• Certified by NCAA in Recruiting of Prospective Student Athlete
• Nominated for the NCPGA Youth Player Development Award
Joe is motivated and driven by both his passion for the game of golf and for his love for
his two sons and family. He considers himself incredibly fortunate to have a career where his two primary passions can come together in the form of coaching. Growing up and residing in Los Altos, Joe’s parenting experience helps him to be relatable and establish open lines of communication with all his players, so that we can work together to create goals and strategies to achieve their full potential in their golf. His elite students have gone onto NCAA Division 1 college programs, the Korn Ferry and PGA Tour Canada tours. His recreational students have gone on to play better, shoot lower scores and simply have more fun.
Director of Curriculum
Mark leads curriculum development at Short Game Artist Golf Academy as well as serving as an instructor. He has developed a passion for the techniques, skills, mental training and creativity for all shots within 100 yards and focuses his coaching on the short game. He has and continues to study extensively under James Seickmann, Golf Digest’s #1 ranked short game instructor in the world.

Mark has taught golf with PGA Tour players, coached junior golfers, and works as a volunteer golf coach for First Tee of Silicon Valley. As a golf rules expert, he wrote the local rules for Shoreline Golf Links.
A California native growing up and attending high school in the Bay Area after college he returned to the Bay Area, to raise his family. An avid player, he enjoys golfing with his now adult sons.
Director of Operations
Sean runs all operations for Short Game Golf Academy. He has more than six years in golf operations, including course management, retail, food and beverage as well as instructional support. At Short Game Artists Golf Academy Sean is responsible for all operations, including scheduling, enrollment, facilities and equipment.
Believing that customer satisfaction is the key driver in any enterprise, he strives to provide the best learning experience for all the students. A recent University of Arizona graduate, Sean is currently studying to be a commercial pilot. Growing up in the Bay Area Sean has been golfing since he was very young.
His favorite part of golf is the short game, bringing an intuitive touch and feel to his shots. He particularly enjoys competing against his family.
Director of Marketing
Amelia leads marketing and social media at Short Game Artists Golf Academy. Her experience working on the PGA Champions Tour, creating social media and media relations campaigns, has shaped her view of the industry and game. She loves the excitement and passion around golf and wants to share that with others.
A retired college athlete, Amelia understands the importance of developing your skills for your sport, while having fun. She hopes to share Mark’s Tour-proven approach with all golfers who want to improve their game.
